Your party season haircare starts now! We have top tips on how to get your best hair of the year.
Party season haircare means glamorous, healthy hair. Here's how to fix common problems and get seriously conditioned locks.Shine
The holy grail of party season hair! We all want locks that shine but they can seem impossible to get. A moisturising shampoo and conditioner, plus a deep conditioning mask are all a must. But if you still aren't seeing results - cheat! A shine spray is the answer to all your prayers and we love Redken Diamond Oil High Shine Airy Mist. For a handbag-sized product you can take on a night out, pack label.m's Shine Mist.
Top Hack: Before shampooing, wet hair and apply a conditioning oil (we highly recommend Moroccanoil). Leave for 5 minutes, then shampoo and condition as normal. The result will be smooth, shiny, deeply-conditioned hair.Split Ends
If you're fighting split ends, there are two courses of action: 1. get your hair trimmed and 2. apply a split end treatment. You may be sceptical, but split end treatments genuinely work. We ADORE TIGI Catwalk Hairista Split End Repair, which applies like a cream to damp hair to create a smooth, even finish. For long-term treatment, use a product such as Elasticizer.
Frizz
Frizzy hair is simply hair that's too dry - the hair reaches out for moisture and the result is a frizzy halo that drives us all mad. So use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner and for extra results, apply a de-frizz oil when styling. We adore KMS TameFrizz Oil which smoothes and tames without a greasy feel.
Flaky Scalp
At this time of year, a lot of us choose to wear black - this brings up the dreaded flakes! Make sure you're flake-proof with a salon-quality shampoo. We tried and tested Philip Kingsley Flaky/Itchy Scalp Shampoo and found it worked from day one. Not only was our scalp soothed, there were no more flakes or dryness. For more solutions, see our blog post here.
Volume
Top of our list for Christmas hair is volume! Easy to fake, it's your choice whether to go for a styling treatment applied to wet hair, or a finishing treatment applied to dry hair. If you don't like the feeling of volumising foam, go for a root boost - we adore TIGI Catwalk Root Boost Spray, simply sprayed onto the roots before blow-dry. Or, if you need to spot-target volume, go for a volume dust such as this one from Schwarzkopf, it's great for updos and back-combed looks. See our Editor's top picks for more volume winners!
Now you've sorted your hair, don't forget your nails!
