With Thanksgiving here, we go behind the scenes with allbeauty's Lauren, plus we talk UK vs US Christmas...
It's the traditional day of thanks for the harvest and it happens in the US every 4th Thursday in November. Oh and it's also the day before Black Friday, the biggest shopping day in The States. We decided to grill allbeauty's Lauren (who hails from Ardmore, Oklahoma) on all things Thanksgiving and a US vs UK Christmas...
So Lauren, what's Thanksgiving all about?
It's a traditional family day where we all get together to eat food, watch sport on tv or the New York Macy's Day Parade. We generally eat our main meal at lunchtime and spend the rest of the day kicking back and eating great food! Shops are generally closed all day Thanksgiving but of course the next day is Black Friday - that's the official start of Christmas for us: shopping in the morning then the rest of the day spent putting up the tree, decorating the house and eating Thanksgiving leftovers.
Ok talk us through a typical US Christmas Day...
Breakfast on Christmas morning is usually cinnamon rolls, or french toast if Dad's cooking. Our main meal is at lunchtime, so we have a cold platter sat out to nibble on before the hot food comes out, something like deviled eggs, carrots and celery sticks with either sour cream & chive dip or creamy spinach dip. As a side dish we always have green bean casserole (something the allbeauty office has never heard of!!!), candied yams, deviled eggs and stuffing. Definitely no yorkshire puddings though, we have crescent rolls instead.
For our main, we have turkey with giblet gravy and cherry pineapple glazed ham. Dessert is all about pies (pumpkin, pecan, chocolate) and my favourite, Four Layer Chocolate Delight....
Other Christmas Treats?
Christmas Cookies are a big thing - we love decorating Christmas Cookies and Gingerbread Houses before the big day. Dump Salad (which I always thought looked disgusting, but have never tried!) It involves Jell-O, cottage cheese, pineapple and/or strawberries, and whipping cream....
Anything we have that you guys don't?
- Christmas Crackers (we know?!!)
- Advent Calendars (again, we know?!!)

Anything you have that we don't?
