At some point you've probably been told to apply perfume everywhere on your body. But where should you spritz and why? Here's the allbeauty guide to wearing perfume.
You may have been wearing perfume for years, but you can still teach an old dog new tricks!
Pulse Points A pulse point is a place on the body where the veins are closest to the skin. This means they're warm areas and warmth means one thing: your fragrance will project (aha so that's why!) The best pulse points for wearing perfume are:
- Wrists
- Behind the ears
- Inside the elbows
- Back of the knees
Clothing Fragrance is perfectly safe to spray on clothing. We repeat, perfectly safe! You'll only need to be careful of very luxurious fabrics such as silk or cashmere and we wouldn't advise spraying leather. Otherwise it's absolutely fine to be wearing perfume on your clothing. Here's a tip we learned from a parfumier a long time ago: spritz your scent into the air just higher than your head, then walk though the drops as they fall. It's a great way to get an all-over effect and won't damage your clothing.
Hair Go easy here because perfume is drying to the hair. There are plenty of brands who make bespoke hair fragrance ( J'Adore Hair Mist is one of our faves!) but if you're dead set on applying your signature scent to your hair then mist it over your hairbrush before lightly brushing your hair. Never spray it directly!
The Bath We know, technically you can't wear perfume in the bath. However you can apply it there and wear it all over! A few sprays of your favourite scent into the bathwater will leave a gentle aroma so don't rule it out. For the best overall effect though you should always 'layer' scent. This means bathing in the gel, using the scented lotion, buffing on the after-bath powder and finishing with the spray. Layering scents is really the best way to get that natural, all-over fragrance that moves with you. If you have an event coming up such as a wedding or prom, we really advise you to treat yourself to complementary products that go with your scent.
