Great makeup starts with great skin - it's time for your party season skincare prep!
Your party season skincare means taking stock and addressing any issues now. Shop skincare for her and him at allbeauty. At the very least, glowing, party season skin means weekly exfoliation, followed by a nourishing serum and a moisturiser for your skin type. But first things first: take stock - look at your skin and see what needs attention. Is your skin drier than normal? Are you experiencing redness or flaking? Is it congested? Tackle your main concern and the rest will fall into place.
Skin Type
Dry Skin: Get moisturising right now! Make sure you're applying day moisturiser and an intensive night balm or facial oil. You can also add a weekly moisturising mask. Look for products that contain Hylauronic Acid (like this daily booster from VICHY) that draws moisture to the skin and be sure to use serums and face oils underneath your final cream.Congested Skin: If you aren't already, begin exfoliating at least twice a week and use a clay mask to draw out impurities. Create a simple steam bath to open the pores by placing hot water in a bowl and adding a chamomile tea bag. Lean over the bowl with a towel over your head and allow the steam to do its thing for 5 minutes. Follow with a cleansing mask to clean the pores and finish with an antibacterial moisturiser.Normal Skin: All ok? Great! But don't let the side down, keep up with your usual routine and be sure to exfoliate once a week to keep skin smooth and soft. Your makeup will thank you for it.
Imperfections
Breakouts and Scars: If you've recently suffered a breakout and you're in the healing stage, it can be infuriating. Waiting for scars to heal can seem never-ending, but there are things you can do to speed things up. Use a cotton-bud to dab on Rosehip Oil at least once a day. It won't make your skin oily, we promise, what it will do is speed up the healing process. If you prefer a balm, then Manuka Doctor is a great choice with its healing honey extracts. If there's bruising or deep redness, HealGel Intensive is fantastic as it contains Arnica. Whatever you choose, make sure the blemish is no longer active before you apply products.
Body Skin
Don't neglect the torso - chances are, a lot more of it will be on show! Buff skin gently in the shower and apply a body butter while the skin is still wet, and for super-silky skin, use a bath oil. For your smoothest legs yet, use up that unwanted conditioner as shaving foam (it works a treat!) A dry oil absorbs quickly and is great for the body, but at party season choose one with a shimmer like this one from Matis Paris.
Don't Forget:
- Shape brows now so you're happy with the look
- If you're planning a face peel, make it at least 1 week before an event - it's likely to bring out underlying congestion
- Get hair trimmed if time allows and begin weekly masks
- Shop intensive tooth whitener for a gleaming smile!
- Begin weekly home manicures - nourish weak nails with daily oil and apply a strengthener like Reunail
- Drink plenty of water, reduce salt intake, and sleep!
